Claire Kelly, MS, OTR/L, CAPS
Claire Kelly is an occupational therapist based in Northern Virginia. After completing her undergraduate degree at Washington University in St. Louis and her Master of Science at Boston University, she returned to Virginia to begin her career. She gained work experience in subacute and longterm care settings, learning to develop interventions for clients with diagnoses including neurological conditions, orthopedics, cognitive disorders, and heart and respiratory conditions. She transitioned to completing home assessments for elderly residents or people with disabilities in Washington, DC through the Safe At Home program. She also has experience in a pediatric clinic, focused on treatment of children with sensory processing difficulties, gross and fine motor delays, and autism, to allow them to develop skills to improve their skills in self-care, school and home participation, safety awareness, and socialization/play.
Throughout her experience, she developed an interest in how to adjust the environment in order to allow a person to complete his or her desired activities. Additionally, she has completed more specialized education programs such as USC's Executive Certificate in Home Modification, Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) training, and the American Occupational Therapy Association's Home Modification education courses in Home Modifications.
